Can I use the cigar lighter socket for power?

You can use this socket for powering your CB radio, and it's ideal for temporary installs, although if you are installing the CB fully (i.e. fixed bracket, cables neatly routed) we advise you take power straight from the battery.

    We advise because:
  • You will be able to use the CB independant of what's happening with the ignition - i.e. when parked up, or when working on the vehicle.
  • You will have less chance of interference from ignition, fans, pumps etc, which you may get when using the cigarette lighter socket.
  • In case of emergency or fault with the loom or electrics, your CB will still have a direct line to the battery, so should still work as long as there is power left in your battery.
