Information about the Valor 300 'Rubber Duck' aerial

SORRY, THIS RUBBER AERIAL IS CURRENTLY OUT OF STOCK, AND IS NOT AVAILABLE AS AN ALTERNATIVE AERIAL IN OUR PACKAGES

No, not shaped like a duck - that would be just silly... this is a small (17 inches) rubber aerial that is very popular with our offroading customers as it's flexible and tough and for it's size - works pretty well.

Obviously, any small aerial will not work as well as a larger one and this is true for this aerial, but if you just want a small aerial for close convoy communications this might be an option.

The aerial has two tuning rings on the bottom of it, allowing it to tune in nicely although it's ability to cover many channels is not great, so if you tune it for use on the UK band the bottom channels on the EU band will have a highish SWR - likewise if you tune it for the EU band, the top channels on the UK band will have a highish SWR.

Having said this - many offroad clubs and groups tend to pick a channel and stay on it, so this is unlikely to be too much of a problem!

The two rings are designed to be tightened against each other when tuned, to prevent movement through vibration.

We supply the aerial with a small shock absorbing spring to make it even tougher.

We are the sole UK importers for this aerial - we tried a few different designs of "rubber duck" until we found this one - deffinately the most efficient of it's type.

The Valor 300 rubber aerial has the same 3/8" fitting as the Springer so will simply screw into any of the standard mounts just the same.

Normal price £22, so to have this aerial instead of the Springer in a package is an additional £12.

You can see more information about the Valor 300 on it's main product page : HERE

Information about the Sirio Mythos 9000 aerial

This aerial is very efficient, well built, easy to tune and stylish...

It is approx 1.4m so although it is shorter than the full size Springer it works better, due to it's more efficient technical design.

Most aerials are a quarter wave design (a quarter of a wavelength at CB frequencies is roughly 9 feet - hence there will always be a coil somewhere on the aerial to make up the extra length needed). The Mythos 9000 is a 7/8 wave so it's effective length is around 34 feet - obviously the coil makes up this extra length but it's still a much more efficient design for transmitting and receiving.

This is an ideal upgrade for anyone who spends most of their time on the road, and will not be bashing the antenna very much.

The Mythos 9000 has the same 3/8" fitting as the Springer so will simply screw into any of the standard mounts just the same.

Normal price £38, so to have this aerial instead of the Springer in one of our packages is an additional £28.

Information about the Dial A Match aerial

This design of aerial has been around since the 1970's and is still made in the USA although now made by Solarcon Antenna Research, not the original designers, Valor.

Two rings make for easy SWR tuning and a small rigid base coil is subtle, performance is reasonable but not as good as a full size Springer.

These aerials have a more rigid whip to them than most, especially the springer.

The Dial-A-Match aerials have the same 3/8" fitting as the Springer so will simply screw into any of the standard mounts just the same.

    Available in 2' (24 inch), 3' (36 inch) and 4' (48 inch) versions...
  • 2' Normal price £11, so to have this aerial instead of the Springer in a package is an additional £1
  • 3' Normal price £12, so to have this aerial instead of the Springer in a package is an additional £2
  • 4' Normal price £13, so to have this aerial instead of the Springer in a package is an additional £3

You can see more information about the Dial-A-Match aerials on their main product pages :

Information about the AT-1 / Thorobred Z27 aerial

This USA designed aerial has been around since the early 70's and was a top seller before the Springer design arrived.

165cm total length, with a rigid coil (solid, not a spring type) at the bottom and high quality tapered steel whip.

The Thorobred has the same 3/8" fitting as the Springer so will simply screw into any of the standard mounts just the same.

Normal price £11, so to have this aerial instead of the Springer in a package is an additional £1.

Information about the Flexi AT-12 aerial

This is a centre-loaded aerial, around 3 feet long, supplied with a medium duty shock spring. It has a solid lower rod, hard rubber encased centre coil (rigid) and whip top section - a good aerial for "heavy-going" off roading, although the only flex is in the spring at the bottom, and the top whip section.

The centre loading coil allows fitment where if at the bottom, the coil would have too much metalwork around it... the fact that the coil is higher can allow it to "clear" the metalwork and minimise any SWR problems that might arise.

The Flexi AT-12 has the same 3/8" fitting as the Springer so will simply screw into any of the standard mounts just the same.

Normal price £12, so to have this aerial instead of the Springer in a package is an additional £2.

Information about the Sirio Taifun 27 aerial

This aerial is designed to look like a standard car radio aerial, looking very similar to the "bee-sting" type radio aerials factory fitted to many cars.

It's range on CB is limited but it does work, and if you really DON'T want anyone to know that you have a CB onboard, this is the one to go for.

Because of it's design it needs to be mounted through a hole in a body panel (usually roof) so it's a permanant fixing although the aerial itself detaches for going through carwashes etc.

A neat design, Sirio's usual excellent build quality and supplied with 4m cable and plug.

IMPORTANT : As this is a complete aerial, supplied with mount and cable, you do not get the choice of another aerial mount if you decide to have this aerial instead of the springer. It costs and additional £4 on top of the package cost.

You can see more information about the Sirio Taifun 27 on it's main product page : HERE
