Product FAQ's - Aerials for vehicles / Just the aerial itself / Sirio Hi-Power 3000 & 4000

Why are the Sirio Hi-Power aerials so efficient?

Most aerials are whats called a "quarter wave" in other words, they are a quarter of a wavelength long. A wave length at 27Mhz (the frequency of CB) is around 11 metres so a quarter wave aerial is 2.75 metres, around 9 feet.

So... most of the aerials we sell are 9 feet long - they have a coil in there somewhere, to "coil up" the aerial - e.g. our large springer aerial is about 5 foot of straight up whip, with the coil making up the other 4 feet.

The Sirio Hi-Power aerials are a 7/8 of a wavelength long (around 9.6m / 32 feet) and as such are much more efficient than the quarterwaves.
