Our Opinion :
The TTI TCB-550 has a lot going for it, it has the main basic functions you would want on a compact modern CB (including Automatic Squelch) while remaining simply laid out and easy to use.

Has illuminated buttons for easy night-time use and is ideal for those wanting a neat and uncomplicated set.

Internal components and board design look more than competent and at this price it's great value.

The TTi 550 is very "short" (only 135mm deep) so suitable for places where you don't have much depth to play with... many CB's are around the 180mm deep size.

At some point we expect the TCB-550 to be phased out in favour of it's brothers the TCB-560 and TCB-565 (coming soon), but at the time of writing (August 2015) they are all available.

ALTERNATIVE AERIALS

You will need an SWR meter to set up your aerial correctly. Buy a meter at the same time as a package and get a free connecting lead

If you're going to be routing the aerial cable through grommets or tight spaces we can leave one plug unfitted, requires soldering

Add a 2m extension to the aerial cable, or add extra cable by the metre, various options if the standard length is not long enough
