In transmit mode, the M-899 can be operated in three different ways :
• 1) PTT mode with the standard microphone, just like any other CB radio
• 2) PTT mode with remote PTT control (to be placed on the steering wheel or on the gear knob) and external microphone
• 3) VOX mode with external microphone (fully handsfree mode)

In receive mode, the M-899 can also be operated in three different ways:
• 1) with internal speaker
• 2) with external speaker (not supplied)
• 3) with external earset (supplied)
