LATEST DESIGN, WITH ANGLE ADJUSTER AT THE BOTTOM
Sirio Mythos 9000 3/8"
A high performance aerial - smart looking with a black steel whip and mostly black base coil
Our Opinion : With almost the same performance as the huge Hi-Power aerials, this aerial works extremely well, but is smaller than many aerials, including the springer. Rigid bottom can be damaged by heavy duty offroading although usually stands up OK to light offroad use and is an ideal choice for those who spend most of their time on-road.
For those who want more of an offroad bias, we can supply a separate shock absorbing spring
This aerial has a 3/8" thread at the bottom so is compatible with the majority of aerial mounts on this site. We also sell this aerial in 2 complete kits, one with a roof/wing/body panel mount including an angle adjusting Dome Mount and 4m cable. (The kit has a neat "all black" look) and the other with a high quality magnetic mount which has 5m of military spec cable.
INFORMATION :
140 cm (55 inches) Long
Standard 3/8" Fitting, fits most aerial mounts
200W power handling
Claimed gain over a quarterwave aerial : 4dbi
MAIN FEATURES :
Outperforms all other 3/8" aerials
Smallish size
Neat styling
Sirio's usual high build quality
OVERSIZE PARCEL SURCHARGE : Our couriers charge us a surcharge for long parcels - between 120cm-160cm it's nearly £4, we cushion the blow a bit by charging £3 per shipment. If you're buying more than one aerial, you'll get any additional surcharges refunded back
For Your Information: Q : Why does this aerial work better than all other 3/8" aerials, even ones that are larger? A : Bear with me, i'll try to explain this as simply as possible, but it is going to get a bit technical... Most mobile aerials are whats referred to as a "quarter wave" aerial... what this means is that the aerials length is a quarter of a wavelength (a full wavelength at CB frequencies is approx 11m), which makes the average aerial 2.75m (9 feet) long! This is why every CB aerial (except our 1/4 wave tank whip) has a loading coil somewhere in it's length, it's a way of reducing the physical size of an aerial while still having 9 foots' worth of metal to transmit with. In terms of efficiency, a half wave aerial is more efficient than a quarter wave, and a five eighths wave aerial is more efficient than a half wave. Taking this to the logical conclusion, a full wavelength aerial would be the most efficient, but the loading coil method of reducing the physical length doesn't work well with full wave aerials (due to technical reasons too complicated to include here!), so the next best thing is a seven eighths wave aerial - and THAT is what the Sirio Mythos 9000 is ... it's a 7/8 wave design so it's effective length is actually around 31 feet... obviously a fair amount of the aerial is in the windings inside the base, in order to create an aerial just 4 feet long! It's this increase in effective length that gives gain (greater signal) over almost every other aerial available. The only aerial that's more efficient is the Sirio Hipower (Hipower 3000 and Hipower 4000)
