All the items on this site have been weighed and the carriage cost you are charged is directly related to the postage cost from Royal Mail.
The actual formula we have decided on is :
- Add 15% to products weight to allow for the weight of the packaging materials we use - box, tube etc.
- Add 10p to the Royal Mail cost-per-weight to allow for the cost of the packaging materials we use - bubble wrap, padded bag, parcel tape, polystyrene chippings etc.
- Factor in 20% VAT to even out the unfair VAT rules on postage costs (postage is Zero Rated for VAT so we cannot claim back any portion of it - but as we are providing delivery as a service to our customers - we have to give the taxman 20% of the carriage cost we charge).
Most of the items we post are classed as Packets on Royal Mails' new pricing (these cost a minimum of £1.30 to send) as they are more than 25mm thick. We have included a cost band for thinner items.

1001g - 1250g = £5.98
1251g - 1500g = £6.90
1501g - 2000g = £8.00 (Usually Fedex)
2kg - 20kg = £10.00 (Fedex)
Over 10kg = + 50p per kilo
