CB radio, large or small aerial & a choice of aerial mounting...

All our farm vehicle packages contain the same basic aerial and mounting choice.

You can have either a Large (155cm / 61 inches) or Small (86cm / 34 inches) Springer aerial and choose from a variety of mounting to suit your machine.

The springer aerial is very robust, having an open coil spring at the bottom, and is generally the most suitable aerial for any farm vehicle.

All the aerial mounts are supplied with cable and fitted plug - ready to go.

The only extra thing you'll need is an SWR meter to check the aerial - you may be able to borrow one but if not we have an offer where you buy an SWR meter for £8.50 and get a free connecting lead worth £2.00 !

Choosing a CB

We don't offer all the CB's that are available in our packages, this is so we can "weed out" the weaker and less suitable units, leaving just proven units that are good at what they do, hopefully ensuring you have years of trouble-free use from them.

Things to consider when choosing a CB :

24v Vehicles You have two choices if you have a 24v vehicle - use a 24v to 12v dropper, see here or choose a CB that can run on either 12v or 24v (these automatically sense the voltage, and no adjustment is needed).

Multi-Standard CB's The main advantage with these sets from a farm cb point of view is that they are fully compatible with all legal CB's in Ireland and Europe, so if you have foreign contractors, or deliveries from abroad, you can get onto their channels. You should only use the AM mode under these extenuating circumstances as it's not legal to use it in the UK!

Public Address (PA) Facility Even wished you could shout 100 yards to the guy standing at the other end of the yard, for example? Well now you can, or at least you can with a CB that has the PA facility. A small waterproof horn speaker is fixed to the outside of the vehicle and when the CB is switched to PA, your voice comes out of it like a loud-hailer. Very useful for many operations around the farm.

Build Quality As we've said above, all the CB's in our package deals have been selected for their quality and reliability... The build quality is much the same, as they are mostly made in the same machines out of the same components, what you get when you pay more are facilities...

Facilities Many of the more advanced CB's have digital facilities like :

• Programmable Memories - you can programme you most commonly used channels so you can get to them with the touch of a button
• Last Channel Recall - will take you back to the last channel you transmitted on
• Scan - scans the channels of the band that you are on, looking for activity
• Dual Watch - allows you to listen to two channels at a time - switching between them stopping if activity is found

Which CB is best for you?

All the CB's that feature in our Farm CB packages are of good quality and should gives years of good service...

If you want just a basic set with the minimum of facilities, go for the Intek M-110 package

If you want just a basic set with the minimum of facilities, but have a 24v vehicle or just prefer the Midland brand, choose the Midland 38 package

If you want just a basic set with the minimum of facilities, but need Multi-Standard channels or just prefer the Midland brand, choose the Midland Alan 121 package

If you want a CB thats a step up from the most basic models with just a couple of useful facilities, choose the Midland 98 package

If you want a CB thats a step up from the most basic models with just a couple of useful facilities, including Multi-Standard channels, and don't mind spending a little extra for very good build quality, choose the President Harry II package

If you want a mid-range set with quite a few useful facilities, including Multi-Standard channels, choose the Intek M-790 package

If you want a CB radio with Public Address facility, and a host of digital facilities, choose either the Midland 48 Excel or the Intek M-490 packages

If you want a CB radio with Public Address facility, with fewer of the digital facilities, choose either the Midland 48 Plus package

If you want a CB that will fit a standard Stereo slot (DIN sized) choose the Team Roadcom Mk2 package
