Marine CB Radio
CB Radio can be invaluable in any craft, but never at the expense of a proper marine band VHF radio - even if it's just a handheld marine walkie-talkie - you cannot rely on CB alone to get you out of a serious situation.
That said, the range of CB over water can be many times what is achievable on land, so makes it ideal for general, family or business communications ship-to-shore or ship-to-ship, with much more relaxed standards than the marine channels.
Specific marine CB aerials are available, which are built to withstand the rigors and corrosion of life on a boat, and usually have some form of "ground plane" built-in, so mounting on even the smallest RIB is quite easy.
