CB Radio - a great way of communicating for anyone - a few mates out for a drive, cruises, motoring holidays or organised club trips & events!

The advantages of CB are obvious for many drivers, but especially those in clubs or groups who meet up or have events or trips away...

CB Radio is cheap, very easy to install (often in seconds with a magnetic mount on the roof or boot, and cigarette lighter power connection) and gives you and your mates communication with each other for 2-5 miles, often more.

For groups of friends or clubs who hit the road together regularly - the ability to all be able to talk to each other increases the fun and laughs no end, and can make for excellent days out, or weekends away!

The serious side of having contact with your companions when travelling means that organising and participating in motoring trips away is much easier - no more getting separated from the group, or frantically waving that you need to stop for fuel.

Many Car Clubs & groups use CB Radio

Many owners-club and one-make car clubs & groups recommend having a CB radio if you are taking parts in outings or events, especially as it can be so easy to install.

From making parking spaces easier to find, to not getting lost when the leader dives down a backroad, or making sure the group stops if the back-marker gets stuck at a railway crossing.

No longer will you have any headaches when a red light splits the group in an unfamiliar busy town centre, or details of an unplanned stop or detour needs to be hastliy passed around the group.

When you are all on the same channel, you can all hear what is said at the same time, so passing information or just chatting or a bit of joking and banter between you is enjoyed by everyone.

If you journey with passengers who know passengers in other cars, this can be a great way of keeping the "seat-cover" (front seat passenger, usually female - again, a CB lingo term!) happy or the kids amused.

Get traffic reports from fellow road users!

CB can also get you traffic reports - from other road users, exactly those in the best position to tell you what conditions are like. Often these reports would come back from a truck driver travelling in the opposite direction, who has just driven past the very stretch of road you want to know about!

You'll have to ask for a traffic report (a 10-13 "ten thirteen" in CB lingo) and the language can be a bit ripe on the mobile calling channel, but again, most of it is light-hearted and jovial.

If all this wasn't enough reason to get CB radios for your group.....

Whenever i tell people that I run a business selling CB radios, they say something like "does anyone still use that? I thought it died years ago!"... it's true - far fewer people use CB now, meaning...

  • Fewer people to "earwig" on your conversations, or try to butt in or disrupt you
  • Fewer users means clearer channels - less interference and ultimately, better range
  • The people that do use CB now are like you - people who can use the benefits of CB to increase the enjoyment/safety/productivity of another activity or in their work.
  • You can pretty-much choose a channel, and stay on it all day, weekend, whatever - without having to move because you've driven into range of other users on the same channel

And not forgetting...

  • CB Radio IS NOT affected by the recent legislation about using mobile phones in cars, so you can chat away with your friends with no call charges, legally.

So, what next?

So, maybe, you and your friends could do with this sort of thing?

Have a look around the advice pages that are listed at the top of this page - although this site is geared towards installing CB into offroad vehicles, much of the information could be of use to you, but a typical temporary car installation is MUCH easier than installing into a Land Rover for example.

Why not give us a ring - we are well versed in most cars, and would be happy to discuss what CB could do for you and your friends, and reccomend a suitable package for your vehicle and budget. If you all get together and order a number of set-ups, not only will you save £££££ on carriage costs, but we can discuss a small discount too. (I say small because we are already EXTREMELY keen on prices - just take a look around our competitors sites!).

Most of the idiots and annoyances that drove people away from CB back in the '80s & '90s have dissapeared, but the advantages and benefits of CB remain, and are even more advantageous on today's roads!
